The state Legislature set a goal of 100% renewable energy by 2045. But weʻre currently the most fossil fuel dependent state in the nation, with billions of dollars of the State’s economy being spent each year on imported fuel. While Hawaii is on track to meet its current clean energy goal, which mandates that 40% of the islands’ energy comes from renewable resources by 2030, what would it take for Hawaii to achieve 100% renewable energy?
