PH-CEO Panel Dialogue: Making a roadmap for a renewable power long term of the Philippines
Juli 28, 2023Many environmentally minded people today are experiencing unprecedented and extreme levels of climate grief and anxiety, and for good reason. One possible way to deal with this is to view these feelings as completely natural and appropriate, and to use them to energize oneself into becoming directly involved with promoting the transition to renewable energy. And the good news is, the renewable energy transition is now fully underway, at long last, and at a global level that will make it difficult for opponents to stop, even if democracy should completely collapse in the United States. The bad news is that many people are still profoundly disengaged with actively promoting this transition, in large part because they’ve been intentionally conditioned not to. To counter this paralysis, this presentation will provide a glimpse of the strong community, positive spiritual comfort, and actual results that being an active participant in the Clean Energy Movement can provide, concluding with a broad list of possible ways to become directly involved.
Dr. Ben Luce is a physicist and longtime renewable energy advocate. He is a member and past president of the New Mexico Solar Energy Association, and was a co-founder and director of the New Mexico Coalition for Clean Affordable Energy. Since 2008 he has chaired the Sustainability Studies program at Northern Vermont University, where he teaches physics, renewable energy, and other courses. He recently founded Renewable Energy Now! (www.renewableenergynow.org) as a new means to provide education and advocacy services for the clean energy transition to a much wider audience.
