Recently the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS) has been notified by the Ministry of Power. The CCTS has been developed jointly by the Union Ministry of Power and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for decarbonization. CCTS was first announced under the Energy Conservation Act 2001, it has been amended by the Energy Conservation (Amendment) Bill 2022. The country aims to decarbonize the economy by the year 2030, CCTS 2023 provides for setting up a carbon credit trading market in the country to achieve this goal.
