Signed into law in 2022, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) is the largest investment to fight climate change in American history. The $369 billion package of climate, clean energy, and environmental justice provisions is the single biggest action the U.S. government has ever taken to address the climate crisis and puts us on the path to slash carbon emissions by 40% by 2030.
⭐Wisconsin Impacts⭐
• Since it was signed in 2022, the IRA has supported $920 million in climate and clean energy projects in Wisconsin and created or advanced 1,112 clean energy jobs
.
• The IRA will also bring an estimated $4 billion investment in large-scale clean power generation and storage to Wisconsin by 2030, supporting the 70,000 workers currently employed in the state’s clean energy economy.
• The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing over $27 million in Wisconsin through the IRA-funded Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). This funding will support rural businesses in adopting or expanding clean energy solutions.
• And millions of Wisconsinites are eligible for cash back and tax credits on home energy improvements, new appliances, insulation, home solar, electric cars and trucks, and more thanks to IRA incentives rolling out across the state.
