Tom Crowther on new platform Restor and biodiversity – moderately than carbon – credit

As one of the most cited and quoted young ecologists, Thomas Crowther, who leads a research lab on global ecosystems at ETH Zurich, came to the COP26 in Glasgow as a leading voice for the importance of landscape restoration for countering climate change. His new platform Restor, developed with Google to assess the restoration potential of any landscape, was recently named a finalist for the esteemed Earthshot Prize, and he sits as co-chair of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. Here, he talks about his new initiatives, ideas and what restoration means to him.
